Amazon Prime...arily Pulling Money Out of Your Pocket

BIG SALES!

YOU NEED THIS!

WON’T BE OFFERED AT A LOWER PRICE THIS YEAR!

It’s a sale. That’s it. There are other sales, at Amazon and many other retailers throughout the year. Just because they have built up the hype around it doesn’t mean you should throw out being a smart shopper.

Here are some things to consider as we enter… Amazon Prime Day(s).

Don’t buy just because of a price markdown.

You still need to pay attention to the prices. Sure, it might be marked down, but is it really the best price?

It might even be a better deal somewhere else. For example,Target and Best Buy are running their own sales at the same time as Amazon Prime Day. You can also use shopping apps and add-ons to help you see if the Amazon Prime Day price is really that great a deal.

Some good tools to use are Honey, Camel Camel Camel, and Hidden Hand.

Don’t buy just because it’s a “great deal”.

OK, there are some really good deals available during Amazon Prime Day. At the same time do you really need a Milk Frother? 32% OFF!!!!! For my household, we wouldn’t need, want, or use a milk frother if it was 100% off!

If it is something you wouldn’t buy normally, it doesn’t matter how good the “deal”.

In addition, how many bottles of ketchup do you really need? If ketchup were on sale for $0.25 a bottle, would you buy 100 bottles and store them for later just because “they were a really great deal”?

Don’t buy it if you don’t have the money.

Let’s say you find a great deal on a Sony PlayStation 5 at 50% off. Wow, that’s a great deal. Unless you don’t have the money for it. Racking up credit card debt just because Amazon says it’s a great deal, especially when it comes to wants, not needs, it is important to put them into the larger perspective of your whole financial situation.

Don’t get pulled in by the hype of Amazon Prime Day.

Do you really need Amazon Prime?

Of Course I Do! That’s how a lot of people would respond to the question.

We would ask you to seriously consider (and even review) how having an Amazon Prime account may affect your buying habits. The convenience of not having to leave home, and clickity click, the box shows up tomorrow with what you bought.

As one of our clients said, “It’s like we’re getting Christmas presents every day!” until they looked at their spending and all those boxes being delivered meant lots of unplanned money disappearing from their bank account.

We aren’t saying Amazon Prime is bad, but we are saying you need to be aware of how it may be changing your buying habits.
